I. PUBLICAN'S CHOICE: AL SUR MUSIC AND DANCE ENSEMBLE PERFORMING AT PROST ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21.
Submitted by Amy Baylor, co-owner of NABC.
Hi Everyone! I'm very excited to announce a special musical evening on Saturday Oct. 21st with Al Sur at Prost!, the banquet room next to Rich O's.
"Al Sur is a music/dance ensemble specializing in the performance of original and traditional Spanish Flamenco art forms. Featuring some of the finest performers in the region, . . . al Sur presents high-octane dance, vocal, and instrumental numbers firmly rooted in the rich Andalusian gypsy tradition. Most numbers are original works composed by the ensemble and feature timbre colors ranging from expressive, exotic vocals and traditional dance footwork to frenetic guitar, throbbing percussion, and the plaintive tones of the bowed contrabass."
If you've never seen this show you are in for an experience! I was fortunate enough to catch them at the Jazz Factory a while back and I must admit that I was truly moved. You can read more about the group at their web site: http://www.alsurflamenco.com/.
The doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and the show will begin at 8:00 p.m. The cost to get in is only $10, but seating is very limited, so I am suggesting that you come early. We will have a few tables open in the back "15-B room" for those interested in eating before the show. Beer will be available throughout the show.
If you have any questions please call me at 502-821-4475 or Reva Young at 812-989-6178. Hope to see you there!

III. BISTRO NEW ALBANY BEER GARDEN SURVIVES HARVEST HOMECOMING.
I've yet to receive a final tally of blown kegs for the three-day run, but around six NABC half-barrels were dispensed, and good beer downtown during Harvest Homecoming looks to be a tenable notion. If you have thoughts or suggestions, throw them this way and I'll pass along to the Daves.
See you next year!

Our NABC beers (on tap during Lupulin Land 2006).
Brewed in New Albany by NABC’s Jesse Williams, with assistance from Jared Williamson.
Bob's Old 15-B ... We're calling it a robust, brown Porter precisely because style definitions were meant to be bent.
Community Dark ... Based on English Mild, and our light-bodied dark quaffer. 5% abv.
Croupier IPA ... Jesse's homage to our casino employee clientele is modeled on the English interpretation, with a few American flourishes.
Elector ... Making Democracy pointless since 2002; English malt, American hops. 7.2% abv. Double Red?
Guests from near and far (on tap during Lupulin Land 2006).

Staples:
Sprecher Root Beer (non-alcoholic)
Rotating (limited engagement -- most will be off tap at the beginning of Lupulin Land 2006).
Founders Red's RyeRegenboog t’Smisje Blond (spiced with Linden/lime blooms)
See above for the complete Lupulin Land lineup.

VI. BOTTLED BEER NEWS: CHATEAU JIAHU, FOUNDERS BAD HABIT AND PODKOVAN DARK LAGER.In stock this week ...
750 ml bottles of Dogfish Head Chateau Jiahu. It is based on 9,000-year-old evidence of fermentables in China: "In keeping with historic evidence, Dogfish brewers used pre-gelatinized rice flakes, Wildflower honey, Muscat grapes, barley malt, hawthorn fruit, and Chrysanthemum flowers."
That's a tough act to follow, but also currently available is Podkovan Dark Lager from the Czech Republic, which is a low-gravity, sweetish lager according to the familiar Central European model, and Founders Bad Habit Belgian Quad (9.8% abv), another in a series of savory Founders seasonals, integrating the alcohol content quite well, and with loads of Belgian-style esters.
BBC Professor Gesser's Mind Numbing Ale
Don't forget to check the chalkboard in the front room at Rich O’s for bottled specials and seasonals. These are the bottled beers not carried on the everyday bottled list, and represent a wide variety of flavors and textures for your tasting enjoyment.
VII. EVENTS, HOURS AND RELATED FACTS.
General business hours:
Sportstime Pizza opens at 11:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Rich O’s opens at 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and at 1:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. We are not open on Sunday except during special events. The same food and beer is available at all times in both rooms, so you may have lunch and a beer in the Sportstime Pizza dining area during those hours when Rich O’s isn’t open. The brewery is available for a look-see if one of us is around and we’re not busy.
Rich O's: The front dining rooms at Rich O's are designated as non-smoking areas. The bar area and Red Room are open for smoking (cigarettes, cigars, pipes). We strongly discourage clove cigarettes, which are divisive even among smokers.
Sportstime: Smoking is permitted in the entirety of Sportstime Pizza.
Weekly on Thursday evening @ 7:00 p.m.
Drinking Liberally (New Albany & Southern Indiana) meets in the Red Room each Thursday. Contact organizer Lacy Davis for details.
