I. CASK-CONDITIONED ALE THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 26: NABC CROUPIER IPA.
On Friday, we’ll be pouring NABC Croupier IPA from the hand-pull. Croupier IPA is brewed with Nugget hops for bittering, and then Fuggles and Cascades, with Cascades used for dry hopping.
French 2-row malt is used, providing a slightly different malt flavor than when using our standard Simpson’s Golden Promise.
Croupier IPA will begin its next draft run on Tuesday, August 30.
We apologize for failing to deliver the promised NABC Beak’s Best last Friday. The firkin didn’t move the direction we wanted, so we didn’t serve it – simple as that. Some times that happens during hot weather.

III. BREW AT THE ZOO IS AUGUST 27.
Saturday, August 27, 2005 is the 2nd Annual Brew at the (Louisville) Zoo, this year presented by BBC Beer Co. (corner of Main and Clay in downtown Louisville. Those who attended last year’s inaugural event will recall that it was a great time, but that there were shortages of food and beer. Rest assured that the steering committee members have been working very hard to see to it that it doesn’t happen again, and I fully expect this to be a highlight of the Louisville-area beer year calendar.
4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (Zoo closes at 9:00 p.m.)
4:00 pm. - 6:30 p.m. Food Sampling
Tickets can now be purchased at participating Breweries for $25. Tickets will go on sale at the Louisville Zoo Ticket Office. Zoo Members can purchase tickets for $25. Non-Member tickets prices are $30. Tickets purchased the day of the event will be $35.

Community Dark … A dark-colored, light-bodied English Mild, and the ideal place to begin overcoming unfounded fears of the dark. 4.5% abv.
ConeSmoker … Smoke and hops collide, and we’re grateful for it. Circa 7% abv.
Elector … Making democracy pointless since 2002. 7.2% abv.

V. CHECK THE CHALKBOARD FOR ROTATING BOTTLED SELECTIONS: SHIPYARD PUMPKIN, STONE IMPERIAL STOUT, AND STONE VERTICAL EPIC 5/5/5.
Remember to check the chalkboard in the front room at Rich O’s for bottled specials and seasonals. These are the bottled beers not carried on the everyday bottled list, and represent a wide variety of flavors and textures for your tasting enjoyment.
Generally speaking, you love pumpkin beers … or not. Shipyard Pumpkinhead is the first version from the patch to reach us this year. The pumpkin spices are mild and balanced, and the sample I enjoyed last night with cranberry bread pudding was impressive.
Only two cases of Stone Imperial Stout (2005) bombers will be sold at $6.50 each (minus carry-out discount). Massive is the best word to describe this great personal favorite, and even if it’s too hot at present for some to snuggle up to such a strong black ale, cellaring won’t hurt it at all.
Cellaring is recommended for Stone Vertical Epic 5/5/5 (2005), the lastest in a series of releases designed to be put aside for future reference. We sold two cases at a cheap carry-out price, and will dispense the remainder at $6.50 from the walk-in, for those who just can’t wait.

Cassissona – cassis-infused sparkling beer from Italy.
Panil Barriquee – Flemish-style sour red ale aged in cognac barrels. A classic.
Rogue Chipotle Ale – mildly peppery, mildly smoky amber ale.
Uerige Doppel Sticke – special strong Alt bier, malty and delicious.

General business hours:
Sportstime Pizza opens at 11:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Rich O’s opens at 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and at 1:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. We are not open on Sunday except during special events. The same food and beer is available at all times in both rooms, so you may have lunch and a beer in the Sportstime Pizza dining area during those hours when Rich O’s isn’t open. The brewery is available for a look-see if one of us is around and we’re not busy.
